City - ESDM Ministry Agrees on Electricity Cooperation

The Jakarta Provincial Government has agreed to cooperate in developing and supervising the implementation of electricity businesses with Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) through Directorate General of Electricity.

This collaboration is contained in a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry and State-owned Electricity Utility PLN Director, Jisman Hutajulu and City Secretary, Joko Agus Setyono at Samaun Samadikun Auditorium, Soemantri Brojonegoro I Building, Directorate General of Electricity, Jalan HR Rasuna Said, Setiabudi, South Jakarta.
According to him, the signing of the MoU is an important step to reduce the risk of fires caused by electricity which often occur in Jakarta.

He explained electricity supervision and development is expected to ensure that the city's energy infrastructure functions efficiently, meets safety standards, supports renewable energy initiatives, and ensures that the electricity system can meet the demands of a city that continues to grow rapidly.
"Hopefully, coordination will be better, there will be increased service quality, stricter supervision, increased energy security and support for energy infrastructure," he explained.
According to him, Jakarta Provincial Government is very concerned about electricity safety to avoid disasters such as fires due to short circuits or people dying from electric shocks in public facilities.
"On behalf of Jakarta Government, I appreciate the realization of this collaboration and I hope that this activity will continue and can be developed to provide benefits to the wider community," he explained.
ESDM Ministry's Electricity General Director, Jisman Hutajulu uttered it was hoped that this agreement could become a guideline between the Directorate General of Electricity and Jakarta Government to collaborate in developing and supervising the implementation of electricity business, which was expected to support the implementation of electricity policy in Jakarta.
"Hopefully, this collaboration can encourage the implementation of guidance and supervision in accordance with the provisions of laws and regulations in the electricity sector, especially those that support programs for implementing electricity safety in Jakarta," he stated.
As for the information, the scope of this MoU includes guidance, supervision and ordering, exchanging data and information, providing support for solving problems in the electricity business, and monitoring and evaluation in the electricity business sector.
After the signing, there would be a socialization of the Complete Peeling of Electricity Safety at Public Facilities which would be attended by stakeholders in the electricity sub-sector.
